The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics issued Tuesday its monthly bulletin of “Foreign Trade Data” for December 2022.
The trade deficit reached $1.93bn during December 2022, versus $4.20bn for the same month of previous year, a decrease of 54%.
Exports value decreased by 2.7% as it reached $4.18bn during December 2022, versus $4.29bn for the same month of previous year, due to a decreased value of some commodities such as ready-made clothes by 4.8%, petroleum products by 41.2%, crude oil by 45.1%, plastics in their primary forms by 31.4%.
While exports value of some commodities increased during December 2022, versus the same month of previous year such as natural and liquefied gas by 47.3%, fresh fruits by 25.7%, fertilizers by 83.3%, pasta and various food preparations by 22.9%.
Imports value decreased by 28.0 % as it reached $6.11bn during December 2022, versus $8.49bn for the same month of previous year, due to a decreased value of some commodities such as petroleum products by 7.2%, medicines and pharmaceuticals by 16.2%, plastics in their primary forms by 48.8%, wheat by 28.4%.
Imports of some commodities increased in December 2022, versus the same month of previous year such as natural gas by 82.5%, wood and articles thereof by 8.5%, pipes and fittings thereof of iron or steel by 16.2%, and seeds by 9.3%.
