DNE Awards honours CCCPA for its efforts in peace-keeping and building and preventing extremism

Daily News Egypt honoured The Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) as one of the most influential entities, in recognition of its efforts in the field of peacekeeping and conflict resolution. The award was received by Ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Latif, CCCPA Director General. The inaugural Daily News Egypt annual summit and DNE Awards were held on 15 March at St. Regis Cairo Hotel. 

This honour came in appreciation of CCCPA’s activity in the field of capacity-building in various areas of peace and security in Africa and the Arab world, and the shift that its work witnessed in the recent period in terms of carrying out its training activities on the ground in African countries, especially in the field of preventing extremism that leads to terrorism.

Moreover, the award comes in recognition of CCCPA’s diversity of international partnerships and the Center’s contribution to the development of initiatives such as the Egyptian COP27 Presidency Initiative: Climate Responses for Sustaining Peace (CRSP), as well as assuming the secretariat of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (IAPTC) and the secretariat of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, and its selection to head the African Network of Peace and Security Centers NETT4PEACE recently launched by AU.

Over the past year, the CCCPA has hosted several events and conferences in order to strengthen African capacities in conflict prevention and resolution, peacekeeping and peacebuilding. 

CCCPA’s efforts include also contributing to developing and advancing new approaches to combating human trafficking and smuggling of migrants, preventing extremism and radicalization conducive to terrorism, and implementing disarmament, demobilization and reintegration programs in asymmetric environments.  

The DNE Awards & Summit were held under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB).

The summit, titled “Leadership in Times of Crisis”, addressed the economic reform process in Egypt, and it shed light on the deals, ideas, and visions that have made a difference in all fields. Additionally, DNE Awards honoured the most influential people and firms in Egypt during 2022/23.

The DNE Awards & Summit event provided a platform to listen to the leaders who challenged crises and overcame several obstacles and review investment opportunities in Egypt.

DNE honoured Dr Mahmoud Mohieldin, the High-Level Climate Champion for COP27, Office of the UN Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as the most influential personality of the year.

DNE Awards & Summit included two-panel discussion and keynote speeches, with the participation of UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt Christian Berger, British Ambassador to Egypt Gareth Bayley, Korean Ambassador to Egypt Hong Jin Wook, Chairperson of the Financial Regulatory Authority Mohamed Farid, CEO of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt Ayman Soliman, Chairperson of the Egyptian Exchange Rami El-Dokany, MCDR Managing Director Khaled Rashed. 

The DNE Awards & Summit included the most influential companies, leaders of Egyptian institutions, ideas, and personalities with an international presence. It will also witness the participation of government representatives, ambassadors, and international institutions in Egypt, as well as culture and thought makers, thought and opinion leaders, and technology developers whose opinions shape society and lead it to the future.
