Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilem discussed Sunday the arrangements for holding the sixth edition of the Cairo Water Week (CWW), entitled “Working on Adaptation in the Water Sector for Sustainability”, from 29 October to 2 November.

This came during a meeting attended by Walid Haqiqi, the Head of the Planning Sector and CEO of CWW; Amr Fawzy, the Executive Vice President of CWW; and Abdel Rahim Yahya, the Deputy Minister for Regional Cooperation.

During the meeting, details of the plenary sessions, workshops, scientific workshops and competitions to be held during the week were reviewed, as well as the list of international speakers participating in the week’s activities.

Sweilem stated that the door for submissions has been opened for regional and international organizations wishing to organize sessions or workshops during the conference on 15 May.

He also explained that the door for submitting abstracts of research papers for the conference has been closed, as the scientific committee for the week is currently evaluating research summaries submitted by researchers in Egyptian universities and research centres to select the best ones.

This conference aims to integrate water issues within climate action, discuss the effects of climate change on the water sector, enhance reliance on modern technology and innovations to meet water challenges in non-traditional ways, work to support and implement integrated water management policies and reach sustainable solutions for managing water resources to meet population increase and climate change, and the week will include many high-level sessions, technical sessions and workshops, as well as presentations and contributions from prominent international speakers.

An exhibition will also be organised in parallel with the week’s activities, which will provide a unique opportunity for all public and private institutions working in the water sector to present their programs, products and innovations in various fields such as water desalination, renewable energy and water technology.
