Minister of Communications inaugurates Digital Egypt Creativity Centre in Kharga

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, inaugurated the Digital Egypt Creativity Centre in Kharga city, within the framework of the Ministry’s plan to spread digital creativity centres throughout the country to build youth capacities and support innovation and entrepreneurship.

Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Mohamed Salman Al-Zamlot, Governor of New Valley, attended the opening ceremony.

The Ministry of Communications equipped the Digital Egypt Creativity Centre with technological infrastructure, computers and peripherals, to implement plans, programs and various training services.

The minister witnessed a presentation on the role of the Information Technology Institute and the National Telecommunications Institute as part of the work of the Digital Egypt Creativity Centre. The training programmes offered by the centre are designed in a manner that is consistent and linked to the cultural and economic identity of the people of New Valley, and includes programs for electronic marketing to serve the work of promoting the products offered by the governorate, and new and renewable energy technology programs to serve the projects of the governorate and its needs for cadres in this field, in addition to Infrastructure programs and technical support, as they are a basic pillar for all new projects in the governorate.

In a related context; The Minister of Communications and the Governor of the New Valley inaugurated the geographical gate in the governorate’s general office, and they also inspected the work of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to link the 30th of June government complex with the New Administrative Capital.

Talaat indicated that a number of projects are being implemented in New Valley which represents the various axes of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s strategy. These include projects to develop digital infrastructure that include ADSL, internet services, mobile communications, and post offices; pointing out that 18 portable towers have been set up in the governorate, and it is intended to set up 70 portable towers during the current year. It is also intended to cover all villages and centres affiliated to the governorate, and a study is underway to cover the various roads leading to the governorate. 

The development of 40 post offices out of a total of 48 post offices in the governorate has also been completed. Post offices have also been provided with 41 ATMs. He added that within the framework of implementing communications and information technology projects in villages under the Decent Life initiative, 12 villages have been linked with the fibre optic cable network, with 26 villages to follow suit, with the aim of providing ADSL to them.

The Minister of Communications and the Governor of New Valley witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the New Valley Governorate to cooperate in implementing digital institutional development projects in the governorate’s general office, affiliated bodies and service directorates, and implementing digital awareness activities for the citizens of the governorate to develop the digital capabilities of the most needy families, to empower them economically to provide them with a decent life.
