Head of Importers Division at Cairo Chamber of Commerce Emad Kenawy has called for activating the economic role of Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so that the ministry could serves as an economic information centre, and provide the private sector with data and information.
Kenawy said that the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be an information centre that provides the Egyptian and local stakeholders with many important economic data.
He added: “Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes all Egyptian embassies in the world, an economically idle power, and most of ambassadors, consuls, and trade representatives. There is no doubt that the political part is done to the fullest, but the economic part, which is no less important at the moment it is almost non-existent.”
Accordingly, there are important recommendations and demands that should be an information center that provides the insider with data on exports, and imports in each country, and whether it is characterized by raw materials and production requirements at the global level. In addition, data about jobs needed abroad and terms of employment as well as information about number of citizens of this country who leave for tourism around the world and which countries they prefer to go so the trips become supply chains for data.
Then a specialised department is established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Egypt, which receives this data and distributes it to Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Tourism. In turn, each ministry provides the chambers of commerce and industry with this information. In addition, provide this data to business community so that the maximum benefit is achieved.
