The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on Sunday that accused the Israeli government of taking advantage of the double international standards and the absence of an international will to apply international law to the situation in occupied Palestine.

The statement emphasized that Israel is coexisting with international reactions to its violations and crimes, realizing that these reactions are not accompanied by pressure, practical measures, sanctions, or any form of accountability.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the fact that the UN Security Council’s failure to exercise its duties towards the Palestinian people and their suffering undermines the credibility of the United Nations and the implementation of international law. This, in turn, paves the way for the law of the jungle and the logic of force as a substitute for international legal legitimacy. The statement suggests that this situation is not only unacceptable, but it also sets a dangerous precedent that threatens international peace and security.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also pointed out that Israel and its various arms are racing against time to implement the largest possible number of its colonial projects aimed at deepening the annexation of the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and perpetuating the Israeli apartheid regime.

The statement highlights the fact that Israel’s continuous expansion of its settlements in the West Bank and its illegal annexation of East Jerusalem are clear violations of international law. It suggests that Israel’s behaviour is not only contributing to the continued suffering of the Palestinian people but is also threatening the prospects of a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The statement called on the international community to take concrete measures to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and justice.

The statement emphasizes that a just and lasting peace in the region can only be achieved by upholding international law and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
