Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar; chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee of the Population, Health and Development Conference (PHDC 23) and its subcommittees.
The meeting came on Monday as part of the preparatory work for organizing the conference which will be held from 5 to 8 September, under the auspices and in the presence of the President of the Republic, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting discussed the preparations that took place during the last period, the meetings that were held with the relevant partners and international bodies participating in the event, and their results.
He added that the minister was briefed on developments in developing the concept of scientific programs and the sessions that will be held on the sidelines of the conference on various topics. The steps to review the national strategies to be launched during the conference were also discussed, most notably the national health strategy, the national population strategy, and the investment map for health.
The minister directed that the national strategy for research be presented for discussion during the conference sessions.
The minister also addressed the possibility of launching global initiatives in the field of population work, to mobilize the international community towards common regional and local issues, stressing the importance of the conference as a point of movement to implement national plans and strategies on the ground, explaining that the conference will witness the launch of many procedures and recommendations. related to health and population work.
Moreover, the minister discussed with the medical committee the pillars of the medical insurance plan for the conference. The plan aims to protect the conference participants from any health symptoms or crises and providing ambulance and emergency services in a timely manner. This comes within the framework of the Egyptian state’s keenness to provide medical insurance for the major events and activities that are held on the land of Egypt.
