Health Minister discusses cooperation with WHO on preparations of “PHDC 23”

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar; received on Sunday, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Egypt, Naima Al-Qaseer; to discuss Egypt’s preparations to host the Population, Health and Development Conference “PHDC 23”.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the meeting discussed the axes of the Population, Health and Development Conference, which is scheduled to be held from 5 to 8 September in the New Administrative Capital.

He added that the two sides discussed the support of the WHO for the conference, in light of the global interest in issues of health, population and development, and the extent of their impact on the health and well-being of people. 

The minister stressed that the world is facing a challenge that can only be faced with a high level of global cooperation and integration.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the two sides stressed the importance of following up the preparatory steps for the participation of Tedros Adhanom, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, in the conference, which will provide a strong impetus to the success of the conference’s efforts, in the face of health and population issues, which constitute a major challenge for countries, whether developed or developing, regardless of their systems.
