The Council of Muslim Elders will hold the second edition of the Youth Peacemakers Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, on 5-14 July.
This event is being organized in partnership with the World Council of Churches and the Rose Castle Foundation. A total of Fifty young men and women from various countries will participate in this forum to promote peace and understanding. The Council of Muslim Elders has stated that the forum is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all.
The Council of Muslim Elders has launched a forum that provides a space for young people aged 18 to 30 to engage in dialogue and develop innovative and sustainable solutions for achieving peace in societies. The goal of this forum is to inspire young men and women to launch national and regional initiatives and projects that promote peacemaking and the values of tolerance and human brotherhood.
Our program aims to enhance the skills of male and female participants in the peace industry by matching their basic knowledge and experiences. We focus on issues such as religion, youth, diplomacy, and promoting interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence. Specialized international experts and actors help refine these skills, with an emphasis on fostering human brotherhood.
According to Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, the Secretary-General of the Council of Muslim Elders, the Youth Peacemakers Forum has a goal to create a global youth movement that can make a positive impact by finding innovative solutions to today’s challenges.
They strive to be exemplary figures for other young people and focus on promoting peace, nation-building, and values like dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, and human brotherhood through inspiring efforts and initiatives worldwide.
Rev. Jerry Pillay, the General Secretary of WCC, expressed his delight in being one of the three organizers of the Peace Makers Youth Forum. He believes that young individuals possess the potential to bring about positive change through their creativity, energy, and passion. Their fresh perspectives and innovative ideas can help address some of the most pertinent environmental and social challenges of our time.
The Forum is an important initiative of the Council of Muslim Elders, based on their goal to promote and uphold peace, coexistence, and positive interaction. The forum was first hosted in London in 2017, and it helped prepare a generation of young people from both the East and West to embrace values such as dialogue, citizenship, acceptance of others, and rejection of extremism, racism, hatred, and discrimination.
