Egypt and Slovakia discuss strengthening bilateral relations and international issues

Ambassador Ehab Nasr, Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs, met with a delegation from the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Michal Pavuk, Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.



The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Slovakia, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador Nasr stressed the importance of holding such meetings as an important mechanism that contributes to the exchange of views and visions between the two countries. He pointed out that there are broad prospects for trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and Slovakia, in addition to the sectors of tourism, air transport, and the automobile industry.

The two sides agreed to exchange visits between businessmen and investors in order to learn about investment opportunities in Egypt and Slovakia. They also agreed to cooperate with international organizations and agencies.

For his part, the Director General of Political Affairs at the Slovak Foreign Ministry noted his pride in the good relations between Egypt and Slovakia at all political, economic, and cultural levels. He pointed out the desire of both sides to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a way that meets the interests of Cairo and Bratislava.

In a separate meeting, Ambassador Nasr met with Slovak ambassadors accredited to Africa, the Middle East, and some Southern European countries. The Egyptian side briefed their Slovak counterparts on the latest developments regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the peace process in Sudan and Libya, and Egypt’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and illegal migration.

The Slovak ambassadors reviewed their country’s vision of the developments in the European continent and their repercussions at the international level. They stressed Bratislava’s keenness to hear the Egyptian point of view, both internationally and regionally, and expressed Slovakia’s appreciation for the efforts made by Egypt in the Middle East region to achieve security and stability.

The meeting was concluded with an agreement to continue the regular exchange of visits and high-level contacts between the two countries and to work together to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields.
