President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi congratulated the Egyptian people on the 71st anniversary of the 23 July 1952 Revolution, which reminds the Egyptians of the struggle of previous generations.

Al-Sisi said in a speech that those generations wanted a free and dignified future for Egypt and its people, worked on ending colonialism and foreign domination, and made tremendous sacrifices for this purpose.

“We pay tribute to the leader of the revolution, Gamal Abdel Nasser, and we pay tribute to President Mohamed Naguib, who took charge at a precise moment in the nation’s life, and to the heroic President Anwar Sadat,” he said. Sadat has faithfully served in war and peace, and paid dearly with his life the dignity and future of Egypt.

Al-Sisi explained that the July Revolution, the First Republic 70 years ago, had gone its way, adopting a “new Egypt” in its time, rising above the East and the West, to become an inspiration for national liberation, all over the world.

It has also made important strides to empower large segments of our people, whether farmers or workers, and give them a place that suits them.

Seventy years after the founding of the republic, Egypt has survived major historical events during the years 2011-2014 and a period of chaos and instability that threatened the very existence of the state and the capabilities of the Egyptian people, President Al-Sisi said.

He stressed that we had to think seriously about the future, and the new republic, which represents the historical development of our national march as a great nation, has to regain its rightful place among nations.

President Al-Sisi reiterated that the foundations and values of the new republic were based on its precedent, and added to it.

He added that the new republic is the product of an unprecedented stage in Egypt’s history of difficulties and challenges, during which Egyptians realized and made sure that the country that enjoys security and stability is the best.

President Al-Sisi explained that social and economic development and modernization have become a necessity for life and the future, not luxury and prosperity.

He said that in our demographic and economic realities, we must not only talk about development in the traditional sense, but also launch high and successive growth rates and accelerated sustainable development so that extraordinary achievements become our natural habit.

The new republic seeks to provide equal opportunities for work and a decent life for this generation and future generations, and to build national capacity in all fields so that Egypt can reach the place its people aspire to, President Sisi said.

President Al-Sisi stressed that achieving, preserving and developing all of the above requires, in parallel with the process of building and reconstruction, developing the human characteristics of our society, building the Egyptian human being and raising its educational, health and cultural conditions.

This requires a huge amount of work and struggle within an integrated community, based on a delicate balance between rights and duties.

President Al-Sisi concluded: “You can be proud of what we have achieved throughout our modern history since independence. Our national march is moving forward despite difficulties and challenges. We look forward to more; the hopes of our people touch the edges of the sky, and we work hard, sincerely and hard to transform those hopes to facts everywhere on Egyptian soil.”
