President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received on Monday Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo.
Presidential spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy said that President Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s firm and historical support for the brotherly Palestinian people.
Al-Sisi expressed Egypt’s pleasure to host the meeting of the Palestinian factions that was held on Sunday in New Alamein, in the presence of the Palestinian President, with the aim of ending the state of division and restoring Palestinian national unity.
For his part, the Palestinian President expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for Egypt’s hosting of this important meeting, and its historic support for the Palestinian cause and the concerns of the Palestinian people,
Abbas noted that the factional meeting is taking place against the backdrop of vital developments internationally, regionally and on the ground, and represents an opportunity for discussion and exchange of views on the best way to achieve national reconciliation.
The meeting witnessed discussions on ways to coordinate positions and visions regarding a number of topics related to the Palestinian issue, especially with regard to reviving the peace process.
The need to preserve the legitimate Palestinian rights and to continue efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the two-State solution and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State on the lines of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, was stressed.
This is in accordance with international law, relevant resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, so as to achieve security, stability and prosperity for all the peoples of the region.
In a different context, President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Justice Minister Omar Marwan, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfek, Local Development Minister Hisham Amna, Presidential Urban Planning Adviser Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Armed Forces Engineering Authority Chairperson Ahmed Al Azazi.
The meeting discussed the executive position of legalizing and recovering state land in the various governorates, including cases of reconciliation.
The meeting reviewed the results of the ongoing efforts to preserve the rights of the state and people and protect agricultural lands,
In this regard, the President directed that efforts to regularize the status of citizens and put an end to the practices of the seizure of State land continue to be pursued,
In this regard, the President stressed the need to prevent further encroachments in parallel with the speedy completion of the codification procedures, in the interests of citizens and the public interest.
