Abdel Ghaffar praises G20 health development efforts

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar witnessed a meeting at the ministerial level that included the health ministers of the countries participating in the activities of the G20 Health Ministers Summit, with their counterparts from the finance ministers of the same countries.

Meetings were held in the presence of the World Bank and many international financing institutions.

In his speech, Abdel Ghaffar praised the efforts of the G20 since 2020, which included launching the initiative to establish the Global Pandemic Fund, to be an unusual mechanism for sustainable financing for pandemic preparedness activities, calling for finding similar funding sources that help reduce funding gaps for health programs. assigned to this regard.

He also congratulated the Executive Board of the Global Pandemic Fund, of which Egypt is one of its member states, for the serious steps taken by the fund during the last period, especially by providing financing to the 27 countries that have submitted appropriate financing programs.

Moreover, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the consultative meeting aimed to inform the attending countries of the developments in the work of the fund, which was launched by the G20 in the past year, and the results of the last period, in coordination with the World Health Organization.

Abdel Ghaffar said that the participating countries stressed the need to complete the work to increase the amount of funding provided by the fund, especially since the number of countries that submitted health programs that need financing reached 134 countries.
