Social Solidarity Minister meets USAID, Pathfinder International over women’s empowerment programme

Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine El Kabbaj held a meeting with officials of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Pathfinder International to discuss a cooperation plan between the Ministry and the Women’s Economic and Social Empowerment Programme funded by the two entities.

The programme aims to stimulate a supportive environment for women in all sectors, with special importance given to the private sector, through quality training, application of insurance protection mechanisms, and contribution to facilitating family and professional services for working women.

The project focuses on strengthening the employment programmes of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, especially for the most vulnerable groups and graduates of “Takaful” programme and other women of working age, such as “Forsa” and “Tafrah” programmes. The project is also implemented in seven governorates, including Cairo, Giza,  Beheira, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, and Qena.

The mechanisms of the plan to expand financial inclusion of women were discussed, including assessing financial literacy needs to manage personal financial matters, developing content dedicated to financial literacy, selecting and training community leaders and social workers to spread awareness and financial education for beneficiaries. In addition, providing awareness and financial literacy programmes for beneficiaries of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, as well as, supporting the Ministry’s community outreach activities through literacy and financial inclusion activities.
