Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry phoned US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abou Zeid said that the phone call witnessed the ministers ‘ emphasis on the importance of working to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, through advancing various development, economic and military cooperation frameworks.
They also discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, especially the situations in Sudan, Libya and Niger and the results of the meeting of the Arab Liaison Committee on Syria.
The two sides also discussed the recent developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Abou Zeid explained that the foreign ministers of Egypt and the United States stressed during the call their keenness to continue coordination and consultation during the coming period to follow the paths of cooperation between the two countries and joint work in order to face the growing challenges in the region.
Shoukry also phoned his Chadian counterpart Mohamed Saleh Al-Nadeef to follow up on the outcomes of the ministerial meeting of the neighbouring countries of Sudan, and the position on the action plan emanating from it. Shoukry stressed Egypt’s aspiration to adopt the plan and implement it as soon as possible.
