The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced on Monday the Israeli settlers’ attempt to extend an electricity network to a settlement outpost in the town of Qasra, south of Nablus. The ministry said that this was part of a plan to steal more Palestinian land and turn the outposts into full-fledged settlements.

In a press release, the ministry said that this was part of the racist colonial plan presented by the head of the settlements council in the northern West Bank to the Israeli prime minister. The plan aims to build a huge settlement community in the area south of Nablus, which would deepen and expand the settlement and separate the Palestinian areas and governorates from each other.

The ministry held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for the legalization of the outposts and the theft of more Palestinian land. It considered this as a continuation of the occupation’s operations to annex the occupied West Bank gradually and undeclared.

The ministry also stressed that the escalating violations and crimes of the occupation were accompanied by desperate Israeli attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause and marginalize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It said that Israel ignored the Palestinian cause under false slogans and pretexts that worsened the crises of the region and threatened its security and stability.

The ministry said that the legalization of more outposts was a disregard for the American and international positions that rejected the settlement, as well as the relevant UN resolutions, especially Resolution 2334, and the international will for peace.

The ministry concluded its statement by saying that Israel benefited from international double standards and the failure of the international community to defend and protect international law and its decisions and to impose respect on the occupying power.
