The head of Sudan’s sovereignty council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, welcomed Saturday any support for the reconstruction of Sudan, but stressed his rejection of foreign dictates.
During his visit to Kassala state, Al-Burhan said the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) emphasizes the need for a professional army.
“We will work to preserve the unity of the country and ensure the security of the Sudanese citizens,” Al-Burhan said, calling on the rebels to lay down arms.
He added that there are war crimes committed in Khartoum and Darfur and the perpetrators must be held accountable.
Al-Burhan said the war in Sudan is to serve specific people and will end sooner. He noted that the current war threatens to fragment Sudan.
The Sudanese army commander stressed in a speech after the meeting that the armed forces do not seek to continue to rule, but rather to hold free and fair elections.
“We are seeking to complete the democratic transition path until the Sudanese people choose who will rule it,” he added.
Earlier, Al-Burhan said that the RSF committed major war crimes in various Sudanese cities, looted money and property of citizens, and violated their inviolability.
On Friday, Al-Burhan visited citizens in the Corniche of the city of Port Sudan as part of his tour of several Sudanese cities.
The head of the sovereign council also visited the headquarters of the intelligence service in Port Sudan and met with the leaders of the service.
He stressed that the work of the intelligence service and its employees had not been interrupted since before the outbreak of the rebellion, as their efforts did not stop and the information was not interrupted for a single moment, and it was the reason for the success of the painful strikes of the rebellion.
Al-Burhan confirmed that the date of April 15 is a dividing point, as Sudan is after this date, not before it.
He concluded that the members of the Armed Forces, the police and the intelligence service fighting side by side, and this is a painting of patriotism that calls to be looked at and reflected to the world.
