Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, travelled to New York on Monday to take part in a ministerial meeting of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East. The meeting was convened by Brazil, which holds the rotating presidency of the Security Council this month.

Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Shoukry will present Egypt’s position and evaluation of the grave military escalation in the Gaza Strip at the meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday.

Shoukry will also call for an immediate end to the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people, and highlight Egypt’s efforts to stop the violence and provide protection to civilians in Gaza, as well as to deliver humanitarian and relief aid sustainably.

Furthermore, Shoukry will inform the meeting about Egypt’s efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading to other areas and becoming uncontrollable.
