President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of Egypt hosted US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Cairo on Monday. They discussed the Gaza conflict and the humanitarian situation there.
Abbas Kamel, the head of Egyptian General Intelligence, was present.
The President’s spokesperson reported that the meeting focused on advancing a ceasefire in Gaza and resolving the hostage and detainee situation. Both parties committed to intensifying these efforts.
They also talked about Egypt’s role in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. President Al-Sisi emphasised the need for global cooperation to facilitate aid delivery, end the conflict, prevent its escalation, and support the two-state solution.
Secretary Blinken expressed the US’s gratitude for Egypt’s diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives, reaffirming the desire to maintain collaboration for regional stability.
The spokesperson concluded by highlighting the reaffirmation of the robust Egyptian-US strategic partnership and the mutual commitment to ongoing coordination on diverse matters.
