Moscow will host the International Municipal BRICS Forum on August 27-28, showcasing its best practices in urban development, Sergey Cheremin, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, announced.

The forum is expected to attract representatives from all Russian regions and over 200 cities across the CIS, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia, TV BRICS reported.

Participants will engage in discussions on various topics including municipal infrastructure, social sphere, sustainable urban development, tourism, sports, resource management, education, culture, and healthcare.

“The business programme will feature panel discussions, round tables, expert presentations, and partner meetings,” Cheremin stated, extending an invitation to all of Moscow’s international partners.

Moscow’s achievements in infrastructure development, digital technology implementation, and air quality improvement will be highlighted as examples for other cities. “The dialogue at the municipal level will ensure the mutual exchange of the best urban practices,” Cheremin emphasised.

The forum builds upon Moscow’s recent accolades, including being ranked first globally for infrastructure quality and fifth for public service provision by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in 2022. The city also led among BRICS megacities in innovative development in 2023.

The International Municipal BRICS Forum has become a platform for knowledge sharing, diplomatic relations, and mutually beneficial cooperation among cities.
