In a significant meeting on Wednesday, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi welcomed Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB), along with her delegation. The meeting, attended by Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, and Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, focused on strengthening the partnership between Egypt and the NDB, the financial pillar of the BRICS bloc.

The discussions highlighted Egypt’s honor in hosting the NDB’s inaugural international forum at the New Administrative Capital, marking a milestone for the bank’s member states. President Al-Sisi emphasized the forum’s pivotal role in promoting economic collaboration, particularly in facilitating transactions in local currencies, bolstering the private sector, and exploring new avenues of cooperation within the BRICS nations.

The presidency’s spokesperson conveyed President Al-Sisi’s commitment to South-South partnerships as a cornerstone of Egypt’s strategy for national development. The president expressed anticipation for the NDB’s upcoming initiatives, which include innovative financial mechanisms and technical support aimed at transforming the global financial landscape to better serve emerging and developing economies.

Dilma Rousseff, in her remarks, expressed gratitude for Egypt’s active participation in the NDB and its role in hosting the forum. She reiterated the bank’s dedication to working closely with Egypt to foster a supportive environment for member states and the broader developing world, thereby contributing to a more equitable global economic system.

Rousseff also commended Egypt’s developmental strides, particularly its efforts in urban renewal, which have significantly improved living conditions for millions of its most vulnerable citizens.
