Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced that 452,657 citizens received medical services, through the National Institute for Research on Endemic Diseases, Liver and Infectious Diseases, affiliated with the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, during the period from January to May 31, 2024.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, indicated that the medical services provided by the institute included outpatient services in the specialties of (internal medicine, liver and digestive system, oncology, early detection of tumors, children, dermatology, and liver transplantation). 350,577 citizens received medical services through clinics nationwide.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the Institute performed 786 surgical operations during the aforementioned period, in addition to the therapeutic services provided by the Hepatitis Virus Unit to 1,870 citizens, in accordance with the latest treatment protocols, in addition to the treatment and periodic medical follow-up services provided by the Institute.
He further noted that the number of beneficiaries of radiology services reached 9,424 cases, which included radiology (diagnostic, ultrasound, CT, and MRI), in addition to 90,000 laboratory analyses.
Mohamed Moustafa, the Chairperson of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, said that the institute is keen to provide the best medical service by following international therapeutic methods in the specialties of general surgery, liver and pancreas surgery, gastrointestinal diseases, clinical pharmacy, dermatology, pediatrics, intensive care, clinical pathology, histopathology, clinical infectious diseases, applied epidemiology, specialized radiology, interventional radiology, nephrology, general internal medicine, and anesthesia.
