Egyptian-Sudanese Expo explores leveraging Egypt’s property companies for Sudan reconstruction

The second edition of the Egyptian-Sudanese Expo opened in Cairo on Friday, aiming to connect Egyptian real estate developers with Sudanese investors and facilitate the reconstruction of war-torn areas in Sudan.

The expo features 20 Egyptian real estate developers showcasing over 60 projects across various governorates in Egypt. It is being held under the patronage of the New Cairo and Administrative Capital Developers Association and the Egyptian African Businessmen’s Association.

The Sudanese Deputy Ambassador to Egypt, Omar El Farouk, said that Sudan is looking to leverage the expertise of Egyptian companies, which have achieved significant success in the Middle East, to reconstruct areas devastated by the ongoing war.

“We aim to transfer the successful real estate development experience in Egypt to Sudan,” El Farouk said. “This exhibition is an excellent opportunity for networking between Egyptian and Sudanese businessmen.”

He also emphasized that the exhibition offers Sudanese people in Egypt the chance to own property, expressing gratitude for the hospitality shown to the Sudanese community in Egypt.

Mohamed El-Bostany, Chairperson of the New Cairo and New Administrative Capital Developers Association and Vice President of the Real Estate Investment Division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, said that real estate exhibitions offer a diverse range of properties, making them attractive to customers.

“Real estate exhibitions offer all types of real estate products,” El-Bostany said. “They also provide an opportunity for developers to see what their competitors are offering, benefiting both sides.”

He explained that the Egyptian-Sudanese Expo aims to contribute to the promotion of Egyptian real estate exports and help solve housing issues for Sudanese people during this critical period.

El-Bostany noted that real estate investment in Egypt is highly profitable, with returns on commercial, administrative, and serviced units being significantly higher than on residential units, which increase in price over time. He pointed out that the real estate market experienced exceptional conditions last year, leading to a surge in property prices. However, the market has stabilized since the beginning of the current year following major deals, including the Ras El Hikma deal.

Jaber Mamdouh, Chairperson of the organising company for the Expo, said that the expo is offering promotions and discounts of up to 50% on properties during the exhibition period, with instalment plans extending 10 years.

Mohannad Shaheen, the Executive Director of the Expo, noted that this year’s expo includes a new feature for Sudanese clients: the presence of an accredited company within the exhibition responsible for issuing visas, residence permits, and facilitating citizenship if a property is purchased under specific regulations.

Shaheen also announced that preparations for the third edition of the exhibition have already begun, with plans for a new format and expanded scope due to the high demand from both developers and buyers in recent times.
