The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will be held in Vladivostok from September 3 to 6, with a focus on the development of the Russian Far East and its integration into the economic space of the Asia-Pacific region. The event, organised by the Roscongress Foundation, will feature about 100 business events across a range of topics.
“Forum guests will have to discuss the image of the Far East’s future and outline new directions for its development,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
Yury Trutnev, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District highlighted the EEF’s role as a platform for developing support measures for the Far East, including advanced development territories, the Free Port of Vladivostok, the Far Eastern Hectare programme, and others.
“The EEF has become one of the tools for the development of the Far Eastern macro-region,” Trutnev said. “Politicians and representatives of business circles in Russia and dozens of other countries are already well aware that the most important issues of development of the Far Eastern Federal District and the entire Asia-Pacific region are discussed at the EEF.”
Trutnev also stressed the importance of the Eastern Economic Forum in the context of the current geopolitical landscape. “Today, the world is going through a complex stage of development, and a new structure of international relations is being formed. The Forum is becoming a platform for strengthening international ties,” he said.
The EEF’s business programme is divided into thematic blocks aligned with key socioeconomic trends for Russia and its partners in the Asia-Pacific region and other parts of the world.
The “New Contours of International Cooperation” block will focus on multilateral partnerships within organizations like BRICS, SCO, and EAEU, addressing topics like energy transition, digital currency, and infrastructure modernisation.
Another key section, “Technologies to Ensure Independence,” will discuss innovations such as cybersecurity, robotics, and the new materials industry.
The “Financial Value System” track will focus on intellectual property protection and commercial arbitration in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Eastern Economic Forum will also address domestic Russian topics, including the development of the Far Eastern Federal District in sectors like agriculture, tourism, small business, and fisheries. The “People, Education, and Patriotism” programme will focus on youth support and human capital development.
The “Master Plans: From Architecture to Economy” direction will examine tools for integrated territorial development, while the “Transport and Logistics: New Routes” block will discuss modernising the Far East’s infrastructure framework, with a particular focus on the development of the Northern Sea Route and regional aviation.
The Eastern Economic Forum will provide a platform for business meetings between Russian entrepreneurs and their counterparts from China, India, and ASEAN countries, as well as events dedicated to cooperation through international organisations and associations, including the BRICS Creative Business Forum and the APEC International Conference on Cooperation in Higher Education.
Participants and guests will also enjoy a cultural and sports programme, including the Falcon Day International Forum, the Far East Street Exhibition, and the EEF Sport Games.
TV BRICS is a media partner for the event. The Eastern Economic Forum, which has been held annually since 2015, attracted 2,400 business representatives from 62 countries in 2023.
