Egypt, Qatar discuss alleviating health suffering in Palestine, Lebanon, and Sudan

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met Wednesday with Hanan Al Kuwari, Qatari Minister of Health, during the 71st session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Qatar in the health sector. Key areas of discussion included exchanging expertise in health care and medical technology.

The ministers also addressed regional and international health challenges, emphasizing the need for humanitarian support and health care to alleviate the suffering of people in Palestine, Sudan, and Lebanon, where health systems have deteriorated due to ongoing conflicts.

Topics on the committee’s agenda included the Global Immunization Agenda 2030, the impact of climate change on health, and investments in health infrastructure. Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reiterated Egypt’s commitment to strengthening health cooperation with neighbouring countries to achieve regional health security.

Additionally, Minister Abdel Ghaffar invited Minister Al Kuwari to attend the second edition of the International Conference on Population, Health, and Human Development in Cairo, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
