Venezuelan Team Wins Gold at World Robotics Olympiad

A Venezuelan team has won the Future Innovators category at the 2024 World Robotics Olympiad (WRO) in Turkey. The competition this year focused on innovative solutions to address the climate crisis, as reported by teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.

Team members Angelina Julieth F. Romero, Mariana Patricia S. Garcia, and Alfredo Ali Rios, aged 16 and 17, impressed judges with their project. Their innovative solution was judged to be among the best in the competition.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro congratulated the team on social media. “Congratulations to the boys and girls! First place in the Future Innovators category. The country is proud of you!” he wrote.

The World Robotics Olympiad in Turkey attracted 3,500 children and young people, representing over 90 countries and forming 550 teams. The Venezuelan team’s victory highlights the country’s achievements in STEM education and innovation.
