Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa met Wednesday, to discuss the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian cause.

Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s support for the Palestinian government and its reform plans, emphasizing the need to empower the Palestinian Authority politically and economically, enabling it to assume its responsibilities in Gaza as part of the occupied Palestinian territories. He reviewed Egypt’s efforts to ensure the Gaza ceasefire agreement’s sustainability and the implementation of its provisions.

The ministers discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing the need to expedite early recovery projects, rubble removal, and aid delivery. They emphasized enabling Palestinians to remain in Gaza.

Mustafa presented a plan for early recovery and rubble removal, developed with international institutions, to facilitate reconstruction and a return to normalcy. The plan was met with agreement.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for the Palestinian people’s rights and the pursuit of a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state, to prevent future violence.
