Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, emphasized the critical role of digital health strategy in achieving health justice and ensuring timely access to healthcare for vulnerable groups. He highlighted that digital transformation in healthcare is fundamental to advancing sustainable development goals and aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
During a high-level meeting to discuss the latest developments in the national digital health strategy, Abdel Ghaffar engaged with his deputies Mohamed El-Tayeb, Abla El-Alfy, and Amr Kandil, along with key ministry officials responsible for digital transformation.
Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar outlined the strategy’s key pillars, including the exchange of medical information, the activation of individual medical records for every citizen, and the expansion of telemedicine services. He also underscored the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing healthcare systems, which requires legislative updates to foster a regulatory environment that supports digital health innovations.
The minister emphasized the transformative impact of digital healthcare, which has reshaped global health systems by offering innovative solutions to improve patient outcomes, enhance service efficiency, and optimize resource allocation. Egypt’s healthcare sector, he noted, must fully integrate advanced digital technologies, health information systems, and AI-driven solutions to modernize service delivery and ensure seamless, high-quality care for all citizens.
Abdel Ghaffar also highlighted the revolutionary role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, particularly in accurate diagnostics, early tumor detection, and the development of integrated digital health systems. AI-driven tools such as early warning systems, remote diagnosis platforms, vaccination digitization, unified electronic medical records, and supply chain management solutions are reshaping the healthcare landscape.
Egypt’s digital health strategy aims to create a comprehensive and integrated healthcare ecosystem by leveraging cutting-edge technology, robust health information systems, and innovative digital solutions. This initiative will enhance efficiency, empower medical professionals, and provide equitable access to high-quality healthcare services, all while adhering to international best practices and promoting sustainable development.
