The aim, El-Shennawy said, is to maximise the event’s impact on the development of Egypt’s tourism sector, showcase the contributions of Egyptian civilisation to global cultural heritage, and increase the number of tourists visiting Egypt.

El-Shennawy added that the meeting also addressed the promotional plan for the Grand Egyptian Museum opening celebration and the coordination with the private sector to develop promotional and marketing campaigns in hotels and tourist resorts. GEM, he noted, presents an ideal opportunity to enjoy an integrated experience combining ancient Egyptian history with the latest museum display technologies.

Al-Sisi emphasized the need to exert every effort and intensify preparations to ensure the event is commensurate with Egypt’s status and history. He stressed that the event should not burden the state budget.

He highlighted that the Grand Egyptian Museum is one of the largest cultural and civilisational edifices in the world, and emphasized the importance of leveraging the momentum generated by the opening celebration to promote tourist destinations throughout Egypt.
