Egypt has affirmed the importance of political solutions to international crises, with particular emphasis on the Russia-Ukraine war. Egypt has been following with interest the consultations that took place in Saudi Arabia aimed at reaching understandings to end the conflict.

For decades, Egypt has emphasized the need to resolve disputes peacefully, based on the United Nations Charter and various principles of international law. It considers these principles to be the main references for the international system and the fundamental pillars governing international relations, believing that settling disputes peacefully and addressing their root causes is the only way to restore security, stability, and peace.

From this perspective, Egypt has participated in Arab and African initiatives, as well as the “Friends of Peace” initiative. It expresses its support for every initiative and effort aimed at ending the crisis. In this regard, Egypt stresses the need to consolidate political solutions as a primary basis for resolving international crises, which was reflected in Egypt’s involvement in a number of initiatives aimed at settling the crisis, and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s call in November 2022 for the importance of finding a peaceful settlement to this crisis in light of its humanitarian, economic, and security repercussions.

Current trends, including those of the US administration, calling for an end to wars and conflicts around the world, particularly in the Middle East, could provide momentum and a glimmer of hope for ending the various military confrontations raging in several regions around the world, through fair political settlements that enjoy international consensus and take into account the interests of all parties, including in connection with the Palestinian issue and the conflict in the Middle East.

Humanity has long suffered from the ravages of wars and conflicts, and it is time to demonstrate to the peoples of the world that we indeed live in a world governed by the values of civilization, tolerance, understanding, and justice, by overcoming unilateral tendencies that ignite destructive feuds, and rising to common human principles, giving hope for a better tomorrow for humanity.
