Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, spoke by phone on Tuesday, during which they jointly condemned Israel’s renewed actions in the Gaza Strip and called for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
According to Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the leaders expressed a shared vision regarding the current situation in the region.
The leaders noted that Israel’s actions in Gaza have resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties, including women and children. They said these actions constitute a violation of international law and the existing ceasefire agreement. The leaders also stated that Israel’s actions were part of efforts to make the Gaza Strip uninhabitable, forcing its residents to migrate.
Al-Sisi and the Amir cautioned against continued Israeli attacks, citing potential humanitarian repercussions, further deterioration of the situation, an expansion of the regional conflict, and the undermining of peace and stability in the region.
Both leaders stressed the need for the international community to take responsibility and push for an immediate ceasefire, the implementation of a two-state solution, and the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They described this as the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
During the call, President Al-Sisi affirmed the deep, strong, and enduring historical ties between the people of Egypt and Kuwait.
Al-Sisi also praised the progress and prosperity Kuwait is experiencing under the leadership of Sheikh Mishal. The Amir reciprocated, expressing his pride in the close relationship between the two countries and his commitment to strengthening it across all sectors.
