Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, recently met with Hassan Ghanem, CEO and Managing Director of the Housing and Development Bank (HDB), alongside other bank officials, to discuss key areas of collaboration between the ministry and the bank. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).
Minister El-Sherbiny opened the discussion by highlighting the Housing and Development Bank as a key partner in the ministry’s success across various sectors. He commended the bank’s ongoing support and stressed the importance of strengthening this collaboration moving forward.
During the meeting, the minister shared the ministry’s upcoming housing unit offerings, urging the bank to be fully prepared to take on the responsibility of marketing and facilitating the sale of ministry-owned housing projects. He emphasized the importance of overcoming previous challenges related to the booking process and exploring the most efficient mechanisms to enhance public confidence in these housing initiatives.
Hassan Ghanem, CEO of HDB, expressed his support for the ministry’s plan to offer 400,000 housing units, which are currently being prepared for release. He presented the bank’s performance improvement plans to better serve NUCA, its largest shareholder, and to meet the evolving needs of individual customers. Ghanem also noted the bank’s efforts to diversify housing offerings and real estate investment opportunities to support the ministry’s goals.
Additionally, Ghanem outlined the bank’s preparations for handling large-scale housing project offerings, which include upgrading branch capabilities, enhancing the call center, and introducing a range of payment methods to streamline the process for potential buyers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue their collaborative efforts, scheduling further coordination meetings to ensure the efficient delivery of housing services and better serve the citizens of Egypt.
