Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China – Participants from Egypt in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) seminar continued their programme in China with a visit to the Fujian University of Technology (FJUT), one of the country’s leading institutions in engineering, applied sciences, and technological innovation. The visit followed earlier tours of shipbuilding facilities in the province, offering the delegation a broader perspective on China’s industrial and educational development.
During their time at FJUT, the Egyptian delegation was introduced to the university’s academic history, research capabilities, and innovative programs designed to foster technological advancement. Established in 2002, FJUT has developed a strong reputation for blending practical engineering training with advanced research in fields such as materials science, mechanical engineering, and information technology. The institution has cultivated close ties with local and international industries, creating a platform for applied research, entrepreneurship, and industrial collaboration.
University representatives briefed the participants on FJUT’s state-of-the-art laboratories, innovation hubs, and hands-on training facilities. The delegation also explored the university’s initiatives in smart manufacturing, sustainable engineering, and digital innovation, which have contributed to its growing reputation as a center for high-tech research and industry-academia collaboration.
The Egyptian visitors were particularly interested in FJUT’s programs aimed at fostering young engineers capable of meeting global industrial standards, as well as the university’s strategies for integrating academic research with practical industry applications. They also learned about partnerships with multinational companies and the university’s participation in international research projects, highlighting China’s approach to education-driven technological progress.
The visit to Fujian University of Technology formed part of the BRI seminar’s objective to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of China’s economic and technological strengths across multiple sectors. While the earlier stop in local shipyards showcased advancements in maritime manufacturing, the FJUT leg emphasized the country’s commitment to cultivating talent and innovation that underpin industrial growth.
Organisers noted that the visit enabled participants to gain first-hand insights into how China combines higher education, research, and industry to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem. For the Egyptian delegation, the experience provided valuable perspectives on how educational institutions can contribute to economic development and international collaboration.
The seminar continues to offer a platform for knowledge sharing, cultural exchange, and practical exposure to key sectors critical to China’s Belt and Road Initiative. From shipyards in Fujian to technological universities, participants are able to observe the breadth of China’s industrial and educational landscape, informing future opportunities for cooperation under the BRI framework.
