TUNIS: Arab security and tourism officials have proposed new measures to strengthen security for tourists and prevent terrorist attacks at tourist sites in the Arab world.

Officials representing countries in the Arab League say they will seek to better inform tourists about risks and better protect archaeological sites.

The officials say in a statement released after meetings Thursday in Tunisia’s capital that the measures will be submitted to the nations’ interior ministers for final approval.

The meetings in Tunis addressed security fears prompted by terrorist attacks on tourist sites in Egypt and Jordan and the February kidnapping of two Austrian tourists in the Tunisian desert. -AP
