The concept of fresh juice drinks and smoothies is not new to Cairo, but Dan juice on Maadi’s Road 9 has a little something extra.
For starters, they have the best harankash (gooseberry) juice in the city. It lacks the usual bitterness, is sweet and sugary, and is the perfect beverage to drink at night while in a car with friends in Maadi.
Unlike the typical juices venues around town, Dan’s is a small, walk-in store, where customer can pick up juice on the go. In addition to a clean store interior and friendly English-speaking staff, Dan’s also distinguishes itself with the quality and variety of their juices and smoothies.
Fresh juices aside, they also have nut juice concoctions. A blended smoothie of either hazelnut, cashew, almond or other available nuts such as pistachio is ground with milk and ice cream for a frothy nutty drink. Healthy? Perhaps, but it’s heavy in calories. Tasty? I would suggest the almond, which, according to a friend, is “absolutely superb.
I personally like to stick to my fruit juices, of which every seasonal and non-seasonal fruit is available.
The mixtures and flavors that come together in the cocktails, further distinguishes Dan’s. The consideration for one’s health by the staff is also commendable.
Not to mention, service is fast and prices are reasonable.
With nine stores soon to open up around Egypt over the course of the next year, it seems Egypt will be drinking a lot of really tasty juice.
