Metro Market scoops international quality award

CAIRO: Egypt’s Metro Supermarket chain has picked up the International Quality Crown Award for excellence at a convention of quality experts in London.

The award was presented to Mohanad Adly, Metro’s managing director, by Jose Prieto, president of Business Initiative Directions (BID), the convention organizers.

The award recognized Metro among companies from 163 different countries for its “outstanding commitment to customer satisfaction, leadership and innovation.

“Metro is being honored with this prestigious award for its commitment to promoting the quality culture among employees, suppliers and customers supported by the QC100 Total Quality Management Model, the International Quality Convention said.

Present at the ceremony were delegates from 163 countries as well as VIP diplomats and members of the press.

Upon receiving the award Adly praised the “many years of hard work and dedication by each of Metro’s 3,100 employees.

“The International Quality Crown Award is no small achievement, he said.

“We have invested heavily in skills training, focusing on customer service and delivering freshness. I am very proud of their effort, which has enabled Metro to grow fast enough to match the customers’ requests to open new stores in various neighborhoods.

Egypt’s largest retailer, Metro is due to open its 31st store in Hurghada in December.
