Personalize your page with Google

CAIRO: Starting this week, Arabic-language web surfers will be able to customize their Google homepage with information and applications from over 10,000 sources, the company said in a statement to the press.

From to-do lists and games, to news and videos, iGoogle gives users immediate access to the information they most care about – all on one page. The personalized homepage’s innovative design enables users to drag and drop sections and arrange the page as they please.

Once the personalized homepage is created, users can be view it when signing in to their Google Account. There’s also a convenient link back to the “classic Google homepage.

Users can choose from several playful designs (called “themes ) to decorate their page: a Japanese-inspired teahouse, a cityscape, or a bus stop. The theme changes depending on time of day and local weather condition, and users can easily change their theme selection at any time.

“Google users have told us they’d like a way to view more of the information they want in a single place. The personalized homepage is the first of a number of approaches we’re exploring to make personalized information more accessible and useful, said Yasmina Brihi, country marketing manager, Middle East and North Africa.
