GENEVA: A coalition of advocacy groups say cluster bombs are still being manufactured in 17 nations, including strong countries such as the United States and Russia, and lesser powers like Brazil, Poland and Singapore.
The Cluster Munitions Coalition says 96 countries have agreed to ban such weapons since last year because they frequently kill and maim civilians.
But some of the biggest manufacturers, like the U.S., Russia and China, have refused to stop.
Egypt, Greece, India, Iran, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, Romania, Slovakia, South Korea and Turkey are also listed as producers in the report published Friday.
These countries argue that cluster bombs have legitimate military uses.
