CAIRO: Egypt s public prosecutor ordered on Sunday the return of a shipment of Russian wheat impounded last month on health grounds, a judicial source said.
The decision to ship back the 52,000 tons of wheat, worth $9.6 million, came after an investigation found the grain was contaminated with insects and unspecified heavy metals, the source said.
The public prosecutor also demanded a refund for the shipment.
In the second shipment of Russian wheat held up in May on health grounds, the public prosecutor s office had ordered the load quarantined for inspection at an Egyptian port after an MP filed a complaint. -AFP
