DRESDEN: The prosecutor in the trial of a man accused of knifing a pregnant Egyptian woman to death in a German courtroom says the hearing has been delayed because the suspect is too upset to attend.
Prosecutor Frank Heinrich said Monday that Alexander Wiens could not be taken to the courtroom on the fifth day of the trial because he was angry and beside himself over an interview his mother had given to a Sunday paper in which she said her son was desperate and did not want to live anymore.
Wiens faces charges of murder, attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm for the July slaying of 31-year-old Marwa Al-Sherbini. -AP
