CAIRO: They must have had one too many, apparently. On New Year’s Eve, residents of the Al Wayli district were awakened to quite the ruckus when 10 inebriated foreign nations attempted to vandalize a bus.

The bus driver escaped unharmed.

The men then chased a cab, the daily Masry Al Youm reported, and damaged it.

Seven men were later arrested.

But New Year’s events did not end there.

Over the past weekend, the media reported that a doctor working at the National Research Center was eaten by his cats.

Apparently, Maher Shaker, a diabetic, had succumbed to the debilitating illness in his apartment in Shubra Street and was not discovered until neighbors complained of a foul stench coming from his home.

When police finally broke into his domicile, they found that he had died several weeks earlier and with no one left to tend and feed his numerous cats, they were forced to eat away at his decomposing flesh – quite the stomach turner this one.
