Kuwaiti officials arrest Egyptian serial child rapist

CAIRO: As he was boarding a flight to Egypt Sunday, Kuwaiti officials arrested Egyptian gym instructor Hajaj Al-Saadi, accused of raping 18 children.

The 27-year-old, named the ‘Hawaly Monster’, confessed to raping 15 Egyptian and three Jordanian children all 10 years old or less.

According to officials from Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, his DNA matched the sperms found on the victims’ clothing. The series of crimes started a year and a half ago.

Al-Saadi worked at a health club in Jabriya, Kuwait, according to Kuwait Times, but was fired recently after being accused of sexually harassing a young girl.

The Kuwaiti embassy in Egypt was closed on July 23 (Revolution Day) and was not available for comment.

Amir Salam, an Egyptian lawyer, told The Daily Star Egypt that the criminal will be tried in Kuwait, where the crimes were committed, and not in Egypt, Al-Saadi’s native country.

If found guilty, Al-Saadi would be responsible for destroying the lives of 18 children, Salam said, stressing that “this type of crime should be harshly punished.
