CAIRO: The Cairo Airport company is now charging LE 5 for entrance into Terminal 3, a reduction from the initially proposed LE 10, according to the official news agency MENA.

Minister of Civil Aviation Ahmed Shafiq decided to reduce visitors’ entrance fees, the agency reported.

Hassan Rashed, head of the Cairo Airport Company, told the agency that the purpose of these fees is not to increase revenues but to reduce the large numbers of visitors that crammed the halls.

He said that the ticket’s value can be used by visitors to purchase of food or beverages from inside the eateries of the terminal’s halls.

This comes amid major renovation plans throughout the airport terminals.

Rashed told the agency that airlines using Terminal 2 will be gradually transferred to Terminal 1. The closure of Terminal 2 is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year; so as to begin the implementation of the $400 million renovation plan.

Terminal 1 – to which pilgrimage flights, Umrah or Hajj, are rerouted – is now going through renovation of the baggage conveyors, special service areas and offices of airline companies, to accommodate the transfers from Terminal 2. -Daily News Egypt
