CAIRO: Egypt’s swine flu death toll reached 23 after a 30-year-old pregnant woman from Aswan passed away Wednesday, the Ministry of Health announced.
She was admitted to Aswan’s fever hospital on Nov. 29 and was suffering from a high fever and difficulty breathing. She was referred to an Aswan educational hospital due to her critical condition. However, she passed away on Wednesday Dec. 2.
The ministry reported 327 cases over the past week including 106 cases in schools and 21 cases in universities.
Since the start of the academic year, 1,349 cases appeared in schools and 203 in universities.
According to the Ministry of Health, over 3,000 cases were reported in Egypt, 94 percent of which have recovered. -Daily News Egypt
