CAIRO: Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Ahmed Younis announced Sunday that the location for the first nuclear energy station in Egypt will be decided at the end of this month.
Yassin Ibrahim, head of Nuclear Power Plants Authority, said that El-Daba’a station is fully prepared to act as the first nuclear station’s location in Egypt.
He added that there are four other locations to act as an extension rather than a replacement for El-Daba’a including El-Negela in Matrouh and Marsa Alam.
Ibrahim explained that changing the location will delay the project for at least three more years. When the sovereign authority reaches a decision, the station will be ready in 10 years. -Daily News Egypt
