CAIRO: Ahly’s Qatari forward Hussein Yasser wasn’t called up by coach Bruno Mitsu for the country s Asian World Cup qualifier against Japan on Wednesday.
Yasser, who has an Egyptian-Qatari dual nationality, has been featuring regularly for the gulf side over the last couple of years.
Qatari newspaper Al-Watan put Yasser s elimination down to his non-participation with Ahly in both the African Champions League and the Egyptian League.
The French coach had previously said that he wanted to watch the midfielder play more for the Egyptian champions, adding hat it would be unlikely to recall him if there was no chance to asses him before hand.
The paper assured the midfielder will get back to Qatar s fold if he plays frequently with the five-time African champions.
