CAIRO: Alexandria s Ittihad announced that the condition which striker Mohamed Farouk set in order to renew his contract was unacceptable.
Farouk’s contract with Ittihad ends at the end of the season and the Alexandria-based club offered him a new two-year deal that would see him making LE 450,000 in his first season and LE 550,000 in the second.
The former Al Ahly striker informed Filgoal.com correspondent in Alexandria that he is happy there and ready to sign the two-year contract with the Ittihad, on the condition that he receives a full payment for the first year in advance.
However, vice-president Mohammed Meselhi said that Farouk s request is against club policy.
Players are only allowed to receive 40 percent of the total amount of the contract in advance, and there will be no exception made for Farouk, Meselhi told Filgoal.com.
It is nonsense that a player receives a full contract amount in advance and then does not give a complete performance throughout the season.
The vice-president mentioned that the club faced a similar situation last season with Hamada Youssef who moved to Arab Contractors after the club s refusal to make an exception.
On the other hand Meselhi said that he will meet Suez Cement football director Hussein Megawer to discuss Ittihad right-back Rami Saied s situation after the player made a U-turn on his decision to join the Suez club following a pre-contract signing.
He also confirmed that the club agreed terms with defender Ahmed Saleh and the player should sign a contract extension in the upcoming days.
