An Italian artist and hobby collector of vintage couture jewelry, Maurizio Vetrugno has amassed a considerable collection of costume jewelry over the years that was oftentimes designed as accessories for the catwalk shows of Yves Saint Laurent, Balmain, Lanvin, Chanel and Schiaparelli: some of the heaviest names in the history of haute couture fashion.

His passion takes him through flea markets and upscale French department stores seeking out a particular kind of craftsmanship that has now died down with the demise of the houses and designers of glamorous haute couture of the 40s to the late 80s.

Vintage couture jewelry is bold, exaggerated and has an element of costume dressing to it. Pieces are crafted so skillfully as if they were real gold and precious gems jewelry. Original pieces are signed and stamped by the craftsman who has made the piece and the house that has commissioned the design.

Vetrugno is currently showing a large range of necklaces, cuffs, medallion pendants and earrings in the home of Jawhara Nafa who has previously introduced Vetrugno in Cairo to much success. They are hosting curious guests and hopeful buyers from Sunday, June 13, to Thursday June 17, hoping to introduce the art and addiction that is vintage jewelry to Cairo.

For more information contact Jawhara Nafa on +2012-313-7649.
