CAIRO: Fourteen Egyptians were killed on Wednesday when a truck lost one of its wheels and careened into a microbus full of passengers, a police official said.

Five others were injured.

The truck driver lost control of the steering wheel when a tire burst on highway connecting Cairo and Alexandria.

Poor road maintenance and lax traffic regulations cause frequent road accidents in Egypt.
