Synopsis: Boldly unconventional and cheerful, that’s how one could describe Babou. Never having cared about social conventions, she is suddenly faced with the realization that her own daughter is ashamed of her and therefore refuses to invite her to her wedding. Hurt in her pride, Babou tries to regain her daughter’s respect by starting anew. She accepts the challenge of selling time-sharing-flats at the Belgian seaside during the off-season, in a desperate attempt to prove her real worth and her motherly love to her daughter.

Synopsis: It’s the end of the 70s. Anton Krastev, a DOP and his wife Diana are separated by the Iron curtain — she flees with their son Antoan to Western Berlin while he stays in Bulgaria. She believes that Antoan can only be cured in Germany. But Anton can’t live without his job. The State Security Services are keeping a close eye on Anton. His phone calls are being taped, his letters are being read. His close relations to the authorities make him even more suspicious. Gradually, they start dissolving Anton’s relation with his wife.

As If I Am Not There

Synopsis: Samira (Natasha Petrovic) is a teacher in Sarajevo who gets a teaching contract in a remote village where the previous teacher has gone mysteriously missing. Soon the village is overtaken by Serbian soldiers, and the villagers are separated into two groups of women/children and men. The men are immediately shot and the women and children are taken by bus to a make-shift prison camp on a farm. There the older women are used for laborers and the young, attractive and even a few children are used for ongoing rapes by the soldiers. The small band of women fight to survive the ordeal both physically and emotionally.
